Leslie
(Red) Parkhurst
Oklahoma
City, April 20th, 1915:
Like a great, big comet with a smokey tail, "Red" Leslie
Parkhurst rip-roared around the local speedway on his Harley-Davidson and
gathered in the big end of the $ 500 purse in the 150-mile motorcycle
speedfest held here today. He made the century and a half in 2 hours, 20
minutes, 50 seconds.
From "Motorcycling", 1915:
Holding his fuel tank on his Harley-Davidson in place with his
knees, "Red" rode the last 50 miles to victory. His fastest lap
was at the rate of 83 miles an hour.
