William (Bill) Ottaway

William Ottaway was the innovative mechanic and  practical engineer who, at the
turn of the century, became interested in
the internal combustion engine. In 1913 he
was hired by Harley-Davidson to update
their utility type engines, and was responsible for Milwaukees preeminence in racing between 1915 and 1921. He finalized
all of their designs until his retirement 1942.
