Irving (Yank) Janke

Irving Janke took first place at Dodge City Classic 1916 in 3 hours, 45 minutes and 36 seconds. Otto Walker´s time on a Harley-Davidson when he lowered the Dodge City record last year was 3:55:45. Think of it, Janke was pranced around that track with the temperature somewhere around 110 in the shade just 10 minutes and 9 seconds faster than Walker´s record that everybody thought last year would stand for a long time to come. Janke averaged 79,79 miles an hour. Janke also set a 200-mile record of 2:27:18 and gave the Harley-Davidson camp the honors for the day.
