American Youth Flies From New York to Paris in 33 Hours, 29 Minutes
New York to Paris in "one hop" in 33 hours and 29 minutes!
He did it! He did it!
And the whole world went mad with a thrill that made, in such a brief period of time, fame, fortune and history. Capt. Charles Lindberg, the 25 Year old American youth, in his single motored monoplane, flying alone, spanned the restless waters of the Atlantic and connected New York and Paris for the first time via the air route. Besides, Capt. Lindbergh established a new record for continuous non-stop flying, 3600 miles being the length of his flight.
Capt. Lindberg, we take our hats off to you !
And what does this mean especially to we motorcyclists ? It means a great deal. First, we are proud to know that Capt. Lindbergh while attending the Univerity at Madison, Wisconsin, found pleasure and thrills in riding his own motorcycle. Then we feel happy over the fact that Capt. Lindberg's choice of airplanes for this thrilling flight was motored by an "aircooled" engine, the same as a motorcycle engine. And last but not least, we sense the keen, set, determination, the will of youth to "go ahead and do things."
The Spirit of St. Louis! Early dawn, gray and murky, but the ship of Capt. Charles Lindbergh is on the field ready for the plucky youth to take the air from New York to Paris and make the most thrilling incident since the Armistice.

Charles A. Lindbergh der berühmteste Flugpionier aller Zeiten
Charles Lindbergh beim Testflug mit Klemm L20 in New York 1928
"Possibly everyone will travel by air in another 50 years. I'm not sure I like the idea of millions of planes flying around overhead. I love the sky's unbroken solitude. I don't like to think of it cluttered up by aircraft, as roads are cluttered up by cars. I feel like the western pioneer when he saw barbed-wire fence lines encroaching on his open plains. The success of his venture brought the end of the life he loved."
Charles Lindbergh, The Spirit of St Louis, 1953
