Smashes Two World's Records at

Ascot Meets

 

Flying Start of Ascot 100-Mile Sweepstakes, January 4th 1920

 

On January 4th, 1920 the Harley-Davidson not only won the first

four places in the 100-Mile Ascot Championship.

Otto Walker being first, but also broke the record for that

distance on a one-mile track. 

Walker's time was 77 minutes, 42 3/5 seconds,

an average of 77 1/4 Miles per hour.

Again on January 11th, in the 50-mile Ascot Championship,

Otto Walker came in first and smashed the world's record for 

that distance on a one-mile track in 37 minutes, 47 3/5 seconds.

The type motor that figured in these achievements was the

Harley-Davidson Pocket Valve Type, the same general design

motor as over 150.000 other Harley-Davidsons and as those 

regulary solid. Where the maximum of sustained speed and power

are necessary requirements, the Harley-Davidson Pocket Valve Type

motor has absolutely dominated the field.
